Dropbox is open now through Election Day, Tuesday, November 5, 2024 until 4:00 p.m.

On July 5, 2024, the Wisconsin Supreme Court overruled its prior decision, in part, in Teigen v. WEC and held that secure dropboxes were permitted under state law as a valid method of mail ballot return. As a result, the City of Stoughton has reactivated its mail ballot dropbox.

A ballot dropbox provides a secure and convenient means for voters to return their mail ballot. It is a specialized heavy-duty steel ballot dropbox that is permanently anchored in place. The City Clerk’s trained staff operate the dropbox to ensure it is properly secured, emptied, and locked. The dropbox is under 24-hour surveillance camera, lights and overhead roof.

The City of Stoughton dropbox is located at the back of City Hall in the drive through lane marked “Ballot Drop Box”. This is ONLY for the City of Stoughton residents living within the City limits.

Please make sure your ballot is complete before depositing - must have the voters signature as well as the witness signature and name and address.
